The Essence of Being Human!
In the words of Desmond Tutu, "My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together". A son of Mother Africa, Lou brings passion, enthusiasm and great insight on the continent, her people and cultures. Lou grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has traveled extensively throughout Africa and the world. His presentation is deeply rooted in the belief that we’re all members of a global village, the more we know about one another, the better global citizens we all become! In this talk, Lou will share with you the concept and works of "Ubuntu" (humanity) through his efforts to bring education to underprivileged children in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The talk will include:
- A brief overview on the continent of Africa and her role in our global village
- A country focus: The Democratic Republic of Congo—past, present and future
- Planting the seeds of hope for children through education—the story of our school
- Why does it matter? Connecting the dots of human interdependence in a global village
- Call for action! Global citizenship in action! The true meaning of "thinking globally and acting locally" and service to humanity
- Visuals through PowerPoint
- Q&A session
